The Squirrel Who Hid the Moonbeam

A squirrel tries to save a moonbeam in his nest, then learns it can shine on everyone at once.

The whole story

1. At blue evening, Pip the squirrel reached through the branches for a moonbeam.

2. Pip caught the moonbeam in his woven basket and carried it home.

3. He tucked the moonbeam beside his acorns and covered his nest with leaves.

4. Inside the nest, the beam lit Pip’s acorns, but the forest grew dim.

5. Pip lifted the leaves, and a silver path reached the forest floor.

6. Three woodland friends gathered beneath the beam while Pip held his nest open.

7. He opened the nest wide, and moonlight touched every leaf, paw, and feather.

8. Pip left the nest open, and the moonbeam shone on everyone at once.
