An umbrella tired of rainy days gets its wish on a windy hill, then discovers it misses being needed.

The whole story

1. On Monday morning, Pippa held Red Umbrella in rain.

2. Drip, drop, drip, went rain on his red roof.

3. At home, Red Umbrella watched kites in the trees.

4. He wanted blue sky under his shiny ribs.

5. On Tuesday, Pippa climbed the windy hill.

6. The wind filled Red Umbrella like a round cheek.

7. Up went Red Umbrella, tugging Pippa's yellow ribbon.

8. He bobbed beside kites and saw tiny rooftops.

9. Then grey clouds rolled over Pippa's small house.

10. Pippa held up both hands and called him down.

11. Red Umbrella opened wide over Pippa's yellow hood.

12. Drip, drop, drip, he was needed again.

13. That night, his ribbon stayed on his handle.

14. Next rain, Red Umbrella carried sky with him.
