The Duckling Who Was Afraid of Puddles

A duckling avoids water until a friend shows her a puddle is just the sky lying down.

The whole story

1. Mimi duckling tiptoed along the garden path.

2. A puddle waited, bright and round.

3. Mimi went around it on a root.

4. More puddles sat between the stones.

5. Bram rabbit laid a leaf across one.

6. Mimi crossed, but her toes curled tight.

7. Then the biggest puddle blocked the gate.

8. Bram said, "It is the sky lying down."

9. Mimi touched the sky with one toe.

10. The puddle held her feet and clouds.

11. Mimi stepped again, and the sky stayed.

12. Mimi and Bram went home through little skies.
