The whole story

1. On Saturday morning, Nia tugged Grandpa's coat beside the garden gate.

2. Nia patted each pocket, and Grandpa sat beneath the apple tree.

3. Grandpa placed a blue marble in her hand. It came from their first picnic.

4. An acorn followed. It fell from the oak where Mama climbed as a child.

6. A red button followed. It saved a teddy bear's coat during a windy winter.

7. A folded paper boat followed. Grandpa made it for Nia's first river splash.

8. Then the deepest pocket held a wooden heart. Grandpa carved it for Nia's first hug.

9. Nia lined the treasures on the bench, and each one held a story.

10. Nia slipped a smooth green pebble into Grandpa's empty pocket.
