The Picture Did Not Look Like Mine

A child compares drawings and feels small, then learns that different pictures can both be worth showing.

The whole story

1. Maya carried her paper and blue crayon to the art table.

2. Maya drew a round blue sky above a green, wavy hill.

3. Lina held up her picture, and Maya held up hers.

4. Lina's tree stood tall, while Maya's blue sky looked small.

5. Maya tucked her paper under the table and held her knees.

6. Then Maya remembered the blue sky she had seen outside.

7. Maya added one tiny leaf, just as she remembered it.

8. Maya placed her picture beside Lina's, and both pictures stayed.

9. Maya's picture did not look like Lina's, and it was worth showing.
