The Bath Water Felt Too Splashy

A child dislikes big splashes, asks for smaller pours, and learns to say what helps the body feel safe.

The whole story

1. At bath time, the child placed one careful foot beside the water.

2. Mother poured a big cup, and the bath water splashed high.

3. The child squeezed the duck and said, “That splash is too big for me.”

4. Mother stopped and listened while the child held the duck tightly.

5. “You can tell me what helps,” Mother said, offering a small yellow cup.

6. The child pointed to the little cup and said, “Small pours help my body.”

7. The child poured a little, and quiet ripples circled the green duck.

8. Mother poured small pours, and the child stayed soft and steady.

9. When Mother asked, the child said, “Please pour small, slow, and low.”

10. The child knew the words now: “Small, slow, and low helps me feel safe.”
