The Wind Blew Harder, but the Sun Won

The wind and sun compete to remove a traveler's coat, and gentle warmth succeeds where force only makes him hold tighter.

The whole story

1. On a bright autumn morning, a traveler walked along the country road. A sharp wind tugged at the traveler’s coat.

2. The wind blew harder. The traveler pulled the coat close and tucked the satchel underneath.

3. The wind whistled, whooshed, and puffed. The traveler held on tighter.

4. The wind tried one last giant gust. The traveler sat down and wrapped the coat around every inch.

5. Then the clouds opened a little. A warm sunbeam touched the traveler’s nose.

6. The sun shone gently. The traveler loosened one button, then another.

7. Soon the traveler felt warm. The coat came off, and the sun won.

8. The wind had pushed and pushed, but the traveler only held tighter. Warmth made room for a change.
