The Library Book That Did Not Want to Close

A library book wants one more chapter, but learns that stories can pause without disappearing.

The whole story

1. On Saturday afternoon, Mina searched the library shelves for a story to take home. She found a small book with a gold moon on its cover.

2. Mina checked out the book and carried it home. Between the shelves, the book whispered, “Please read me first.”

3. That night, Mina read one chapter under her cozy lamp. The story carried her over a river and into a palace made of clouds.

4. At the end of the chapter, the book held its cover open. “Please,” it whispered. “Just one more chapter.”

5. Mina wanted another chapter, too. But morning would come early, and the library book had to go back on Monday.

6. “We can pause here,” Mina said. She tucked in a blue ribbon bookmark and gently closed the book.

7. The book stayed closed through the night. Its river, palace, and cloud road stayed safely inside.

8. On Monday morning, Mina returned the book to the library. She left the blue ribbon between the pages, ready for the next reader.

9. The book no longer tugged at its clasp. It knew that stories can pause without disappearing.
