2. The rainbow seemed to touch the far meadow gate. Mina tucked her pinwheel under her arm and ran to find the place where the colors met the ground.
3. When Mina reached the gate, the rainbow was gone. Mina blinked at the wet grass, and her hand found only empty air.
4. Then Mina spotted a bright curve near the pond. She ran toward it, but the colors faded before she arrived.
5. Mina stopped with one boot in a puddle. She stood still, and a rainbow curved over the pond.
6. She looked around. The sun was behind her, and a veil of raindrops hung over the meadow. Sunlight entered the drops, bent, bounced inside, and came out in colors.
7. Mina took three steps to the side. The rainbow appeared in a new place. She stepped back, and it appeared somewhere else.
8. Mina lifted her pinwheel and grinned. The rainbow had not run away. It had no place to sit on the grass; it belonged to the angle between the sun, the raindrops, and Mina.
