4. So Luma filled her lungs and made one long, low call. It reached farther than her little squeak.
5. The canyon bent the sound, and the ridge made it softer. Luma tried again, longer and deeper.
6. Luma sang once more. Far across the deep, a familiar call came floating back.
7. Luma answered, and her family answered again. Their voices met across the miles of water.
