2. Beneath a clover leaf, Tilly found a golden oat crumb. She pushed it, but it did not budge.
3. Tilly left the crumb and headed home. With every step, her feet left a scent on the path, a message too small for eyes but clear to an ant’s antennae.
4. At the nest entrance, Tilly tapped antennae with Mara. Mara lowered her feelers and found the faint scent pointing toward the garden.
5. Mara found the golden oat crumb beneath the clover leaf. She pressed a fresh, stronger scent trail into the ground beside it.
6. Soon, three more ants followed Mara’s stronger trail. Their line curled around the stone like a brown thread.
7. At last, the little team gathered under the crumb. Six strong backs held the breakfast just above the ground.
