2. Mina leaned over the table. “Where did you come from?” she asked, holding her wooden spoon beneath the pale cloud. The cloud slipped away before the spoon could catch it.
3. Mina tried again with her notebook beside her. The cloud disappeared, but a warm puff brushed her cheek.
4. Mina touched the outside of the bowl. It was warm. Above it, the air felt warm too, while the kitchen window felt cool against her other hand.
5. Mina held a cool metal spoon above the soup. Tiny beads of water dotted its underside. Mina's eyes grew wide.
6. Mina kept her notebook beside the bowl. The soup was full of water, just like a puddle after rain. Could water be hiding in the cloud?
7. Mina watched the bowl. Some of the soup's warm water became water vapor, too tiny to see at first. It rose from the hot soup.
