At bedtime, Tavi reached for the patchwork blanket on the peg. The peg was empty.
When the Moon Borrowed Tavi's BlanketTavi searches the night sky for a missing blanket and finds the moon using it to warm a cloud before sending it back at dawn.
1. At bedtime, Tavi reached for the patchwork blanket on the peg. The peg was empty.
2. Tavi looked under the bed. Only three acorns and one sleepy beetle were there.
3. Tavi stepped outside with a lantern. The blanket had not gone far, surely.
4. Tavi searched the night sky. The moon shone bright and round.
5. Then Tavi noticed something pale beneath the moon. It looked like a corner of the missing blanket.
6. Tavi reached for the reflection, but the water only gave back ripples.
7. Silver glints led Tavi past the pond and up the hill. The trail ended beside a sleeping cloud.
8. There it was. The moon had borrowed Tavi's blanket to warm the cloud.
9. Tavi held the blanket's corner. The cloud was cold, and the moon had found a kind way to help.
10. Tavi did not pull it away. Tavi sat beneath one warm corner and waited.
11. At dawn, the cloud floated higher. The moon sent the blanket gently back.
12. Tavi tucked the blanket under the chin and smiled. It was warm from the moon, and warm from sharing.
