The Tiny Train That Would Not Leave Anyone Behind

A small toy train delays its grand trip to collect forgotten toys, proving that a slower journey can become a better one.

The whole story

1. At sunrise, Milo packed his map, and the tiny red train rang its bell. Today was the grand trip around the playroom.

2. The cars were full of dolls, wooden animals, and a tin robot. Everyone had a place, and everyone was ready.

3. Then Milo heard a tiny clink. Under the table sat a purple dragon with one wheel missing.

4. Milo tucked the dragon into an empty car. The grand trip could wait while they found its wheel.

5. They searched beside the bridge and behind the blocks. At last, the wheel gleamed in a patch of sun.

6. Milo pressed the wheel into place. The dragon climbed aboard, and its silver wings gave a proud little flap.

7. The train had barely reached the shelf when a squeaky quack called out. A little duck was stuck beneath a blanket.

8. Milo lifted the blanket, and the duck waddled free. The duck joined the dragon in the waiting car.

9. Near the rug, Milo found a blue wind-up mouse. Its key was missing, but its courage was not.

10. Milo found a spare key in his satchel. The mouse clicked, turned, and climbed aboard.

11. By afternoon, the train had found three forgotten toys. Its grand route was shorter now, but its train was wonderfully full.

12. The train reached the grand view at sunset. It had taken all day, but nobody had been left behind.

13. Milo folded the map and rang the bell. The slowest journey had become the best one, because everyone had a seat.
